I love working with natural materials because they keep my work connected to nature and to the beautiful world that inspires each of my dolls. Each Sol is handmade one at a time, so every one will be a little different and uniquely yours.
I create my dolls as little companions, and Sol in particular takes me back to my childhood home, when rays of sun came through the windows and I spent happy afternoons with my beloved grandmom. Those were the days without worries, when the afternoons seemed like they would never end and, in my imagination, there was always a magical forest filled with endless stories.
Now I see my own children looking at these little figures on our nature table, creating stories and magical forests of their own. Even though my dolls are decorations and not toys, I like to imagine that one day these pieces will become little heirlooms in their homes—not only objects they remember, but reminders of afternoons that once felt eternal and of their own personal magical forest.
