The Raven
I have always loved the quiet, mysterious presence of ravens. For this piece, I wanted to capture one of those little moments in nature when a bird pauses on a branch and seems to be watching the world around him.
I create each raven entirely by hand from merino wool, slowly building and shaping the dark fibers to form his body and individual feather details. He rests on a botanical branch surrounded by tiny green leaves.
The finished piece feels a little like an old natural-history illustration brought to life in wool.
The raven is mounted on fabric inside an oval embroidery hoop, ready to hang on your wall. Choose approximately 6”, 8” or 10”.
You may choose your background:
Off-White Botanical — soft, light and natural, with the feeling of a vintage botanical study.
Taupe Dark Academia — deeper and moodier, giving the raven the atmosphere of an antique natural-history collection or old study.
