Merribelle comes in 5”, 6”, 8” and 10” tall. Each one is individually handmade by me from wool and natural fibers using needle-felting techniques. She has soft white wings, long brown hair, a purple winter coat and hat trimmed with fluffy white wool, a little metal bell, and tiny gingerbread houses nestled around the bottom of her dress.
She is made especially as a Christmas tree topper. The smaller sizes are lovely for tabletop and smaller Christmas trees, while the 8” and 10” sizes have more presence on a traditional tree. She can also be displayed on a mantel or shelf as part of a Christmas village.
When I created Merribelle, I imagined a little angel arriving in a snowy gingerbread village on Christmas Eve. She is bundled up in her warm winter coat and hat, carrying her bell through the snow while the tiny houses glow around her. I wanted her to feel cheerful, cozy and a little magical—the kind of Christmas character that children notice, but that can become part of a family’s decorations year after year.
I especially love making the tiny gingerbread houses and adding their snowy roofs and little glowing windows. Because every Merribelle is made individually by hand, her houses, hair and other small details will vary slightly, giving each angel her own personality.️
