Adelina comes in 5”, 6”, 8” and 10” tall. Each angel is individually handmade by me from wool and natural fibers using needle-felting techniques. She has soft white wings, long pale curls, a deep evergreen gown decorated with burgundy roses, and a little evergreen crown in her hair. In her hands she carries a candle surrounded by greenery and a tiny rose.
She is made as a Christmas tree topper, with a hollow base that allows her to sit on top of the tree. The smaller sizes are lovely for tabletop, Waldorf advent Spiral, Wreath and as a smaller Christmas trees, while the 8” and 10” angels have more presence for a larger tree.
When I created Adelina, I was thinking about the quiet tradition of lighting candles during Advent and the feeling of waiting for Christmas to arrive. I wanted her candle to be the heart of the piece—a tiny light surrounded by winter greenery and roses.
I chose the deep green and burgundy colors because they feel warm and old-fashioned to me, almost like Christmas decorations that have been kept and loved for generations. Her little wreath crown and the roses scattered over her dress make her especially beautiful among evergreen branches.
Every Adelina is made individually by my hands, so her curls, flowers, greenery and other small details will vary slightly. These differences are part of the handmade process and give each angel her own personality.
